Bringing Italy to Washington, D.C.

Officina—Italian for “workshop"—is the fulfilment of Chef Nicholas Stefanelli’s lifelong dream to share the richness of Italian cuisine and culture. Established in 2018, Officina brings together a collection of unique food and beverage experiences under one roof at The Wharf, D.C.’s vibrant waterfront district. Inspired by Chef Stefanelli’s Italian-American heritage, culinary training, and travels through Italy, Officina offers more than just a meal. It offers an authentic Italian journey.

A Culinary Journey Inspired by Italy

Chef Nicholas Stefanelli’s passion for Italian cuisine began with his family’s deep Italian roots. His culinary journey took him from Maryland to renowned kitchens, training under legends like Thomas Keller at The French Laundry and Roberto Donna at Galileo. As executive chef of Bibiana, named one of Esquire’s “Best New Restaurants,” he made his mark. After earning a Michelin star at Masseria, Stefanelli created Officina to celebrate Italian gastronomy in all its forms.
